Norwich Puppet Theatre is a venue, theatre company, and community outreach organisation. We are dedicated to championing the special art form of puppetry and are committed to providing magical experiences and creative skills sessions for everyone.

Situated inside a medieval church, we are one of only three building-based puppet theatres in England. Our programme of family events offers an excellent introduction to the magic of theatre. We offer original shows, activities, and workshops for all ages.

Norwich Puppet Theatre is committed to the development of arts practitioners, offering adult workshops and masterclasses. We also present the annual MANIPULATE Visual Theatre Festival run in collaboration with Puppet Animation Scotland.

For over 40 years Norwich Puppet Theatre’s producing company has created new shows for family audiences, performing in Norwich before touring in the UK and internationally. Our Creative Engagement Team works across the county providing hands-on experiences for schools, charity organisations, and public events. Our work provides a creative context which encourages meaningful, exciting, and inspiring learning opportunities.

During lockdown we created a new Online Puppet Theatre YouTube channel. Here we upload how-to activity videos for children and families. We also produced new performances of Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts and Revolting Rhymes, which were created and performed by artists and companies associated with the Theatre. These were online from August – December 2020.

Norwich Puppet Theatre is a registered charity. As a result we rely on the support of our community to grow and flourish. Our community and outreach work is focused on delivering arts and cultural experiences to children and young people in Norfolk who experience few engagement opportunities.
