Workshops

If you are 5 or over, then why not come along to the Puppet Theatre and join in the fun of making a puppet?

Each session is themed to a particular type of puppet - ranging from rod puppet to marionette, Bunraku, glove and many more besides. If you are not sure what some of these words mean then look at the Programme section of the website where each workshop has a short description about the puppet you will make.

Working with a professional, you make the basic puppet form and are then free to give the puppet the style, character and decoration you want. At the end you will have a puppet to take home with you!

Workshop sessions last for 1½ hours with a short break midway for a snack or a drink. These can be purchased from our shop or you can bring your own.

Look out for the special double workshops and also the adult puppet-making workshops.

Each workshop has a maximum of 20 participants, so be sure to book early to ensure your place.

Special Workshops

As well as our programmed workshops we are also able to offer workshops for groups - schools, brownies, scouts etc - both at the theatre and off-site. For more information about such sessions or to discuss a project then please contact:
judeorange@puppettheatre.co.uk or give Jude a call on: 01603 615564

Adult Education

Each term we run a 10 week course in puppet making which runs alongside our Puppet Club for people who have participated in one of our previous courses. During the 10 weeks you will learn some of the traditional crafts used in puppet making - including modeling, papier mache, and wire frame making - to create your own puppet.

We also run single day and evening puppet making workshops for adults for those who cannot commit to a 10 week course. See the programme for details of the current event.
